Root canal treatment or endodontic therapy is removing infected pulp of tooth, cleaning and filling with gutta-percha (natural latex) and eugenol based cement. The temporary filling remains in the place until it is covered by a crown or cap that looks like a natural tooth. Finally, the crown is cemented into the place. After the root canal treatment, patients are prescribed with painkillers and antibiotic to suppress the pain and prevent infection.
